How It WorksWhat is True Value Web Online Data Backup? True Value Web Online Data Backup is an innovative tool that enables you to back up your files to secure servers automatically, and access them from any PC—anytime, anywhere—via the Internet. You select the files on your system that you want to protect (family photos, music, financial records etc.) and choose the frequency at which you would like them to back up to your remote storage location in your online account. Storing your files off site (at our top-security data centers) provides the ultimate in protection, safeguarding your files from natural disasters, fire, and theft. True Value Web Online Data Backup provides automatic backup, easy access and secure file storage, all in one, along with other exclusive features such as cross-computer folder synchronizations and company-wide shared drives. Is True Value Web Online Data Backup secure? You can be sure that all of your important data, files, photos, financial records, and more are completely secure. Here’s how:
StorageWhere is my data stored? All the data stored on our servers is simultaneously mirrored on two different servers within our primary data center. It is then transmitted to a second storage facility nightly. How much will a 1 GB account store? On average 1 GB equates to approximately 400 pictures, 325 songs, 2100 Word Documents, or 3500 e-mails. How do I figure out how much data I have to back up? Go to the folder(s) on your desktop (often My Documents) in which you store the data that you want to back up. Right click on that folder and view Properties. Use the size displayed to determine the minimum storage amount you need. Also, think of the type of files that you want to back up and refer to the information in the previous question. What do I do if I fill up my online data backup account and need more space? Because our billing is based on a pay-per-use basis, you'll never run out of space. Rest assured, if you have important information you'd like to backup, we'll be waiting for it. No need to worry about ever running out of space.
Backing Up DataHow do I determine which files to back up? As you install True Value Web Online Data Backup you will be asked to choose which files you want to back up. Remember, you don’t necessarily need to back up everything on your computer — just the items that you don’t want to lose. This may be photos, financial and tax records, music, important projects, or anything else. You can also read a step-by-step procedure in our Documentation. Do I have to do something every time I want to back up? Once you have set up your True Value Web Online Data Backup account and installed the software on your computer, all you have to do is make sure that your computer is on and connected to the Internet at your scheduled backup time. We’ll take care of the rest. If you miss a scheduled backup, the software will perform your backup the next time your computer is on and connected to the internet. How often will it back up? As often as you’d like. When you install the True Value Web Online Data Backup software, you will choose the frequency of your data backups: daily, weekly, or monthly; you also pick the time of day (or night). It’s easy to change this setting at any time. There are also many other advanced scheduling features such as telling the software to not backup during certain times. Refer to the documentation for more information. Don’t be alarmed if you first back up seems to take a long time. Even via a high-speed internet connection, backups take approximately eight hours for each gigabyte of data. As your first back up will include everything on your computer you have chosen to back up, the first backup will likely be your largest and will therefore take the most time. Subsequent backups upload only new or updated files, probably reducing the amount of data to be backed up and thus the length of time it take to perform the back up.
Remote AccessHow do I access my files remotely? You can access your files at any time from any computer with an Internet connection. Simply login to your account.
